Low level laser therapy (LLLT) can effectively block pain message signals so reducing pain, improve healing
time,
increase circulation and decrease swelling.
LLLT stimulates the body’s cellular response to damage. In
soft
tissue injures, it increases the production of cells such as macrophages, fibroblasts and mast cells which
then
accelerates tissue repair and improves chronic conditions.
There are many conditions that laser therapy
can
be used to alleviate. It has anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and increased healing properties. It is
non-invasive and drug free and is easily tolerated by patients.
The results are reducing inflammation in joints, relief of pain, swelling and stiffness and increased
mobility.
Therapeutic lasers can be used on their own, in conjunction with conventional medicine, when
conventional methods have drawn a blank or where the use of drugs present a problem.
Conditions that Benefit from Laser Therapy.
Reduces pain and increases mobility in arthritic dogs and dogs that suffer from hip or elbow dysplasia,
increases
healing time in soft tissue injuries, such as sprains and strains.
Course of Treatment
Treatments vary case to case but normally, cases are seen twice a week for the first 2 weeks, then weekly for
2
weeks, then fortnightly for 2 weeks, then a maintenance monthly visit
Veterinary referral is necessary. The treatment will be carried out in the comfort of your own home, though
if
your pet is having therapy at Roundstone Hydrotherapy Centre in Angmering, then I can carry out the treatment
there, at the end of their session, if that is convenient for you.
All appointments are from £30
Pippin's Story
“By the age of five, all four feet showed distinctive signs of degenerative arthritis, as his poor paws became
increasingly ‘nobbly’ and swollen – but he never stopped running, nor did his tail stop wagging. By this time he
was on regular pain relief and Yumove, in the hope that these would give him some relief. He also had regular
Hydrotherapy, which although helpful, was obviously not enough to deal with the condition alone…..At this point,
our vet suggested Laser treatment would be a good option, as there had been favourable success reports in this
field…
Pippin had regular sessions of Laser treatment, and it become clear, after several sessions, that
the swelling in his paws was reduced…The continuation of Laser treatment throughout, in conjunction with
Jacuzzi,
and Hydrotherapy, without doubt maintained Pippin’s ability to continue being relatively active….” Sandra
Peg's Story
“I believe that Ali and her laser treatment have made a significant contribution to my springer spaniel Peg
finding
her zoom and zest for life again. After a number of months where her mobility and capacity for enjoying her
walks
was severely impacted and the only solution seemed to be medication and painkillers.
Ali was gentle,
encouraging and kind to Peg and was able to get her to settle and engage for the around half an hour of each
treatment session. Peg’s capacity to again enjoy her walks and move with ease and once more, be the
energetic
and
vibrant dog of the year before was for me, the best possible outcome of her treatment.
She has
regained
movement and activity that I had felt might be lost and many friends comment on the amazing change in her
and
her
ability to walk and enjoy life again. Peg’s medication has reduced drastically and she is now having monthly
maintenance sessions with Ali.
Ali’s breath of experience as a vet nurse and her huge knowledge
inspires
confidence and she is a fountain of other dog related advice. I know I really benefit from our chats whilst
she
treats Peg – Ali thank you so much.” Jayne.
